Wow, I can't believe that a month has already passed me by. Granted I've been pretty busy keeping up with my newborn. I finished up the nursery, bought all the last minute items that I needed for right away, and finished reading up on labor options. At the very end, my doctors decided that it would be best if they induced me early due to low amniotic fluid levels.
I checked in at the hospital on Wednesday night on March 28th so that they could put a pill on my cervix to get things to finish "ripening" before the contractions could start. They ended up doing 2 rounds of the pill (cytotech) before the contractions kicked in. The patocin was started at 6:45 am, my water broke naturally at 9:15 am, I begged for drugs and had an epidural at 11:45 am, I started pushing at 1:45 pm, and Logan Francis Conwell was born at 1:54 pm after 8 minutes and 4 pushes later. I didn't feel a thing and I thank God every day for that blessing!
He was perfect from the very first moment I laid eyes on him. He weighed 6 lbs 8 oz., 20 1/2 inches long, with lots of hair and deep grey eyes. He has changed my life so far in just about every way. I wish so much to be able to stay at home with him for the next 5 years and wait to go back to work but sadly that won't be the case. I'll be going back to work on May 1st unless I decide I need another week. It's going to be ridiculously difficult to leave him, but I know that it'll only make coming home to him that much better. Now just to pray that he doesn't turn colic on us!!
Go figure he's hungry again, so until the next time I get 20 minutes of peace and quiet to write, I hope everyone is having a great week!
